John, Sallye, Rob, Tom and all, I got some wonderful mail today! I now have the Marriage Bond (and maybe the application--there are 3 sectoins) for my great grandparents, William W. BEHYMER and Tillie J. MARTIN! I'll send you a copy, Sallye, and anyone else if you will just send me your address. This proves that my William Behymer WAS NOT the son of Samuel and Sarah Ward, who was born in Sept. 1835. William's age on the bond was 20, on 26 Jul 1880. Tillie was the daughter of Samuel J. and Mary E. MARTIN--S. J. Martin is on the bond, also Lewis BEHYMER signed as a witness. I think there is a strong possibility that my William was the son of Lewis (b. 19 Nov 1838), who was a brother to William (born in Sep 1835), both sons of Samuel and Sarah Ward Behymer. Sallye, I also found it interesting that R. J. Rardin was the deputy clerk, spelled like Rardin cemetery. The bond reads as follows: Know all Men by these Presents: That we, Wm. W. Behymer and S. J. Martin are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the just and full sum of One Hundred Dollars, current money, in the payment of which, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, heirs, etc., jointly and severally, by these presents, sealed and dated this 26 day of July 1880. The condition of the above obligation is such that, whereas there is a Marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Wm. W. Behymer and Tillie J. Martin. Now should there be no legal cause to obstruct the same, then the above obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue. Witnessed by R. J. Rardin D. C. Signed by William W. Behymer and S. J. Martin. Commonwealth of Kentucky, County of Campbell--To any Legally Authorized Minister of the Gospel, You are hereby authorized to solemnize the rite of MATRIMONY between William W. Behymer and Tillie J. Martin and in so doing THIS SHALL BE YOUR SUFFICIENT WARRANT. Given under my hand, as Clerk of the Court for the said County, This 26 day of July A. D. 1880 Signed Thomas Jones CLERK By R. J. Rardin (deputy clerk). I Hereby Certify That on the 26 day of July 1880 William W. Behymer of Clermont Co. O, 20 years of age, born at Ohio was married to Tillie J. Martin of Campbell Co. Ky, aged 17 years, born at Campbell Co. Ky and single, by Geo Froh Minister, Of the Methodist Church. Dated, Campbell County, Ky. July 26, 1880 Witnesses: Lewis Behymer and N. T. Rouse?, truly recorded. Attest: Thos. Jones, Clerk, By R. J. Rardin, deputy clerk. Isn't that exciting? I'm still waiting on a death certificate of a William who died in Hamilton county, OH. Can't wait to see if it is my William or not. Hope you all enjoyed this find half as much as I did. Linda
