Sallye: Many thanks for the data on the land transactions in MD. One of the things that seems puzzling to me, is that Aaron Sargeant Behymer, in his diary, says that his father, Samuel (as well as several of Samuel's brothers) were born in Botetourt County, VA, 12 miles South of Fincastle. I believe that this is probably in error, as John Sr would have been unlikely to move directly to VA after his marriage to his wife, Anne, have several children (Samuel was born in 1763), move back to Frederick County, MD, where he spent roughly 10 years, and then move back again to VA. A more likely scenario is that Samuel was born in Frederick County, MD, but was raised in Botetourt County, VA. Aaron Sargeant Behymer wrote his diary when he was not a young man, and so may have gotten things confused. Of course, this is all just my educated guess until we find more data to sort this out. What are the opinions of others on this list with respect to this issue?
