The Breakthrough you found is very interesting, John! Good work. The indication that John Beckleshymer Sr. had 3 wives has put me to the task of trying to determine Annes (his 2nd wife) identity. I think I have come up with a theory on this. Known facts on Anne: She was married to John by 1763, Samuels birth year. She was in Frederick CO. MD in 1771-1774 She had dower rights in Frederick Co. (this suggests to me that her parents/family might have lived there). She is not mentioned after Dec. 1774, as far as I know. Johns 3rd wife, Elizabeth is only mentioned in VA records, I believe, beginning 1785-7. I re-examined the known data, looking for more clues and came across: 7 June 1756, "John Bechtelheimer and Catherine Trout" were married (by Elder Christopher Sauer, II, according to Brethren records. Elder Sauer/Sower, II/Jr., minister at Germantown, Pennsylvania, just across the river from Amwell, New Jersey.) It had been assumed that this John was Johan the Elder - in part, BECAUSE IT WAS THOUGHT THAT ANNE AND ELIZABETH WERE ONE PERSON. I think this John could easily be John Sr. , son of Johan the Elder, as 1st wife, Sophia Slinghoff could be deceased by this time, and John could have taken Catherine as his 2nd wife. It is possible that her name is Catherine Ann. I checked some data on the internet on any Trouts in Frederick CO. MD, and , in fact, there are Trouts there at the same time as John Sr. would have been there with Anne. There are Trouts there!, including a Jacob Trout, Sr. born in 1759, married to Elizabeth Reed August 9, 1780 in Frederick County, Maryland. I checked some more data and found: Descendants of Johannes and Anna Katharina TRAUT: Johannes TRAUT born: Germany died: 1728 Germantown, PA immigrated: 1709 spouse: Anna Katharina ____ born: Germany died: PA immigrated: 1709 GENERATION TWO II-1. Johan Baltzer TRAUT (John Balthazar TROUT) born: 1700 Germany died: 1750 PA spouse: unknown children: III-11. Jeremias TROUT (1723-) III-12. Balthazar TROUT (1726-) III-13. Jacob TROUT (1731-) This leads me to a possible conclusion that Catherine Trout, wife of John Bechtelheimer in the earlier marriage record in Germantown, could be named Anna Catherina, and that she is connected to the Johannes TRAUT of Germantown, PA above, possibly a grand dtr. Furthermore, it is conceivable that they moved to Frederick CO. MD to improve land that was part of her dowery as a member of a migration of the Trout family to this area. Also intriguing is the later record of Joseph Picklesimer marrying Susanna Trout in Franklin CO. VA I know Im getting carried away here, but it might be reasonable to think that Johns wife Anne died around 1775-8, and this is why he sold his Maryland land and moved to VA. Please let me know what you think of this hypothesis. Rick Phillips John Tippet wrote: > > I just returned from my local LDS family history center, and I have some > exciting news to share.
