Dulca: Jesse is a bit of an enigma. The other 12 children are know to be those of John and Anna. Jesse is "thought" to have been a son of John and Charity. I have the John who married Anna and the John who married Charity listed as one and the same person, which is probably not the case, since Jesse was born chronologically in the middle of the other 12 children. I believe I put a disclaimer regarding these two John Beckelhymers in the descendancy narrative. What we need to sort this out is the pension record for John's widow for his service in the War of 1812. John, Martin and Levi, 3 brothers, are all known to have served in Captain Robert Haines Company in the War of 1812. I have just discovered that the LDS church has the National Archives pension and military records indices for the War of 1812 on microfilm. I just ordered these yesterday, and have got my fingers crossed that I will find something important in them. John and Anna show up in the land transactions for Lawrence County, IN from 1829 through 1845, and are in Fulton County, IL after 1840 (per the census). I have yet to check the land transactions (or verify the 1820 census enumeration) for John and Anna in Jackson County, IN, but I plan on doing that in the near future. Per one of my earlier E-mails, Charity is know to have died prior to 1822 per her father's will, so it seems likely that we may be dealing with two separate John Beckelsymers - the one that married Charity and the one who married Anna. Which one is the son of John, Jr could be provided by the War of 1812 data, if it exists. Regarding, Samuel - yes he was a remarable man! All of his children are verified in various sources, and he did indeed have the last one when he was 74 years old. His next to last child, Aaron Sargeant was born when Samuel was 69 years old. Aaron, of course, is the one who wrote the diary of his family, and who was the father of Ellsworth "Bee" Behymer, noted opera impressario in the Los Angeles area. BTW: when I first joined this list, I too was disbelieving that Aaron Sargeant could have been Samuel's son. I do not know who was the mother of Daniel's two children. Maybe others on the list can provide this information. You are right about Sara E being duplicated. This is probably not the only error in the database <grin> I have fixed this and it will appear whenever I post an update to the web page, I appreciate comments, as that is the only way to evolve the database. In the next update, I will be adding land transactions for Campbell County, KY, Montgomery County, VA, Bedford County, VA, Lawrence County, IN, Clay County, IN and Jackson County, IN as well as all of the wills for Clermont County, OH.
