Fellow Behymer researchers: If any of you have tried to access my web page recently which is located at: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohnDoeTippet/ then you have probably experienced: (1) It takes a long time to load the various files because they are so big. This is worse on slower computers. (2) As a couple of people on this list have informed me, the links from the index of people and places page back to the descendancy narrative is not working (a page not found error message occurs). Regarding (1), I am happy to report that I have found a new feature of my genealogy program (TMG) that will allow each generation to be stored as a separate html file (each linked together), making the individual files quite a bit smaller than they would otherwise be. Of course, generation 6 will still be the largest file, but the situation will not be nearly so bad as it is now. Also, currently the source index file is unnecessarily large, do to each reference having a unique endnote number resulting in a long string of "ibids." This resulted from the fact that I had recently upgraded to a new version of TMG which had unique endnote numbers as the default. Fortunately, this feature can be turned off so that a common source is only referenced once. Regarding (2), this I believe is a bug in the new version of TMG in that the index file is missing the .htm extension on the files that it is trying to reference. This should go away when I implement the solution indicated in (1). Thats the good news. The bad news is that I've got to pay the bills this weekend, so I will not be able to remedy this situation just yet. I hope to post the update next weekend. Regards...
