Fellow Behymer researchers: I think I have figured out this missing link. James is the son of John Beckelhymer and Catherine Redpath. I became confused because Jesse P Beckelhymer (aka P. Hymer, etc.) also lived in Putnam County, IN, and I could not tie a connection of James to him. It's interesting that John Beckelhymer mentioned above is a grandson of Abraham, Sr while Jesse is a grandson of Jacob, Sr. They would therefore be second cousins. Somehow they both managed to end up in Putnam County, IN.
