    1. Abraham Behymer, Jr
    2. John Tippet
    3. Fellow Behymers: Since it has been so quiet on this list recently, I thought I would stir things up a little bit. We now have proof that Abraham Behymer was a brother of Jonathan Behymer, and that this Abraham had died prior to about 1845 when his brother, Jonathan had him baptized, based on the Mormon Baptisms for the Dead at the Nauvoo Temple. From the same source, we know that Jonathan had an uncle, also named Abraham. The latter would have been Abraham, Sr who shows up in the early Virginia records. Now, unless there was yet a third Abraham who died young, leaving no trace, then I believe that the other Abraham who shows up in the early Virginia records, i.e., Abraham, Jr who married Mary (Polly) Kingery was, in fact, Jonathan's brother. He died circa 25 May 1822, so that fits the above. His birth date (circa 1772) also fits in nicely between his sister, Anne and brother, Nathaniel. It is curious, however, that there was no mention of him in the Aaron S. Behymer diary or the Behymer newspaper article that appeard in the Clermont Courier, circa 1893. John Walter and John Wayne Picklesimer imply in their book, "The Picklesimers of Eastern Kentucky" that there was some evidence to suggest that Abraham, Sr was the father of Abraham, Jr. Perhaps they could elaborate on what this might be. John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com P.S. Kenny Becklehimer: since you are the only one on this list who descends from Abraham, Jr, do you agree with my conclusion?

    3. Jeanne: How is it that you know that your John Washington Mahoney married a Beckelhymer and that she died in Delaware County, IN? Do you have a death date? Do you know where they were married? I did some checking of the census indices on the Ancestry.com web site for John Mahoney (there were a lot of them), but the following are probably of interest, especially the last one: 1850, John Mahoney, Montgomery County, OH, Van Buren township, p. 73 1860, John Mahoney, Delaware County, IN, Harrison township, p. 398 1860, John W. Mahoney, Delaware County, IN, Mt Pleasant township, p. 466 (if his wife were alive in 1860, she would show up here) Hope this helps, and keep in touch... 1. MAHONEY / BECHTELHEIMER
    2. JOHN T. According to the old researchers on the Joseph and Christina (Lazena) Beckelhymer family, only one child used "Bechtelheimer" as a last name. That was Samuel Housting and Rachel (Kessler) Bechtelheimer, Sr. Two of their children married a "Mahoney".. 1) Jacob marr Catherine Mahoney in Delaware, IN.; 2) Samuel Housting Jr marr a Nancy Mahala Jane Mahoney in Delaware, IN. In "History of Henry, IN", Samuel and Rachel were the parents of 13 children, 11 living in 1828, 2 died in infancy. They only found 8 known children, 1 female, 2 males they could not account for. According to the "History of Church of the Brethren" they said he died 1887, age 94, leaving 10 children. We still come up short! Samuel and Rachel were married in Montgomery Co, IN. I believe Rachels family (John Kessler and Mary Custer) were living there at the time of their marriage. The 2 other Behymers who we found land transactions for, in Montgomery, OH were there at the same time...John, I gave you the land transactions for these two men...I believe it was a Joel and a Jacob, but have not gone back to verify this. You should find most of this information on the back of the FRS that I sent you. Hope this may help you. Sallye

    3. Hello John (and everyone), 1. Maybe Sallye can help on the sources of Samuel P. Behymer and Mary B. Webb. After looking through my files, the only place I have middle initials recorded on them is what Sallye provided. I did wonder if maybe the "B" for Mary "Polly" Webb could have been mistakenly obtained from the "Last Will and Testament of Solomon Behymer" which refers to them as Solomon and Mary B Hymer. I also had the date of Solomon's death as calculated from the monument inscription, "1900 OH CLERMONT, Monument Inscriptions Prior to: V6P36 Solomon B'Hymer D. 08 Dec 1858 76y11m29d Mt. Holly Congregrational Chapel", which would make death date 10 Dec 1781. 2. Bertha Behymer (dau. of William W. and Matilda J. "Tillie" Martin BEHYMER)--I have her recorded by T.P. White Funeral Records as being buried at Mt. Moriah Cem. There are conflicting death dates on her in my info, 20 Dec would work better with age at death listed as 15y5m0d. I have the following: *1878-1884 OH CLERMONT/BIRTHS (FN327580) V-2 WM BEHYMER & MATILDA MARTIN P/O BERTHA *1856-1908 OH CLERMONT/INDEX TO DEATHS, BY AILEEN M. 3. Fellow Behymers: I have been going over all the information I have on the descendants of Solomon Behymer, in preparation for my next web page update. In the process, I have come across a few bits of conflicting information that I am hoping members of this list can help me sort out. They are the following: (1) Solomon's birth date: 10 Dec 1781 or 21 Oct 1782? Mary B Webb, Solomon's wife: where does the middle initial "B" come from? (2) Samuel P. Behymer (Solomon's son): born 4 Dec 1809 or 24 Dec 1809? died: 9 Apr 1887 or 9 Jul 1887? Also where does the middle initial "P" come from? Sarah Ward, Samuel P's wife died 13 Jun 1882 or 15 Jun 1882? (3) John Behymer (Solomon's son): born 11 Oct 1811 or 27 Oct 1811? (4) William Behymer's (Solomon's son) wife, Martha Littleton, died on 1 Mar 1914 or 3 Mar 1914? William and Martha's son, Seeley: did he die in infancy circa 1847 and was buried in Mt Moriah Cemetery or did he live to maturity and marry Catherine Elwood on 23 Oct 1870 in Grant County, IN? If the later, why no mention of him in the article on John O Behymer from the Biographical and Genealogical History of Cass, Miami, Howard and Tipton Counties, Indiana published in 1898? Was he born on the same day, 11 Mar 1847, and was a twin to his sister, Mary Jane Behymer? (5) Bertha Behymer, daughter of William W Behymer and Matilda J Martin: was she buried in the Mt Moriah Cemetery or the Olive Branch Cemetery. Are these two cemeteries one and the same? (6) Daniel (Solomon's son): is he the one who shows up in the 1 Oct 1850 census in Ohio township, Clermont County, OH, p. 825 as age 45, listed as a laborer in the household of John and Nancy (Behymer) Swem? 3. Merle: Way to go Merle! That is really good news regarding John Gray (both the census information and land transactions). BTW: was there a female enumerated in the household old enough to have been Esther? As far as Chapman, Aaron and Henry are concerned, I had already found them in the 1840 census. They are in fact included on my web page under the census section. I had not gotten around to looking up the France's yet, however. Now that I know that John Gray, Esther's second husband, may have moved to Fulton, I checked the Ancestry.com census index and found the following: 1835, John Gray, Fulton County, IL State census, p. 28 1840, John Gray, Fulton County, IL State census, p. 67 1840, John Gray, Fulton County, IL Federal census, p. 373 1860, John Gray, Fulton County, IL, Federal census, p. 108 There may be some clues here. Keep up the good work... John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com P.S. There is another "Behymer loose end" that I plan on adding as a place-holder child of Levi on my next web page update: Bev Elmshauser's Cassander Behymer (b. circa 1810 in OH) who married Elijah Ward in Anderson township, Hamilton County, OH in 1829. Also, we should all be trying to figure out how Rob Dupuy's Mercer County, OH Behymers fit into this puzzle. -----Original Message----- From: Merle Saunders <saundman@essex1.com> To: BEHYMER-L@rootsweb.com <BEHYMER-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, May 16, 1999 8:49 PM Subject: Re: Fulton County Behymer Loose Ends >Hello John and All, > Last week I had the chance to look again at the 1840 Census of Fulton >County, Illinois and while going on some ideas that I got from you and some of >the others, I found some things that I hadn't noticed before: In Pleasant Twp., >I found C. 3. John, I appreciate the lookups, I have gotten the 1850 but none prior. I'm trying to get a more complete picture of what happened to the families 1850-1870 before going back further. Additional ??. Has anyone done a check of Behymer families in 1800 - 1840 Census in OHIO, and compared them to known families? I will most certainly post any new info I find on this family. bev John Tippet wrote: > Bev: > > I don't have any data on your Cassandra Behymer and Elijah Ward, however, I > did check the Ancestry.com census index (for which I am a subscriber) and > found the following: > > 1820 Elijah Ward, Clermont County, OH, Ohio township, p. 38 > 1830 Elijan Ward, Hamilton County, OH, Anderson township, p. 147 > 1840, Elijah Ward, Clermont County, OH, Ohio township, p. 213 > 1840, Elijah Ward, Clermont County, OH, Ohio township, p. 218 > 1850, Elijan Ward, Clermont County, OH, Ohio township, p. 418 > > Hope this helps. 3. Hello John and All, Last week I had the chance to look again at the 1840 Census of Fulton County, Illinois and while going on some ideas that I got from you and some of the others, I found some things that I hadn't noticed before: In Pleasant Twp., I found C. Beehymer (who I believe is my ancestor Chapman) - age between 20 & 30 and listed immediately below him was a John Gray - age between 40 & 50. Others listed near him in Pleasant Twp. were: Aaron Beehymer (Age 20 - 30), Michael France (Age 60 - 70 or 40 - 50?), Orval France (Age 20 - 30), and H. Beckelhymer (Age 30 - 40). I also was able to look up some land transactions and found 1 that showed Admiral John Gray selling part of his land in Section 11 of Pleasant Twp., Fulton County, Illinois to Chapman Bhymer. I want to thank you for the tips and I plan on trying to find more to possibly show that Chapman and Aaron were brothers and stepsons of John Gray (Actually sons of Levi Beckelhymer and Ether France). Sarah Kinsey, Enoch's wife, married secondly Abraham Stoner in Preble County, OH in 1822. Abraham, from the above, appears to be living in Montgomery County, OH in 1830. This is not surprising as many of the Kinseys settled in Montgomery County (near Dayton), in particular, Henry and Eve Kinsey, Sarah's aunt and uncle.
