Does any one have a copy of the book/pamphlet that the Rev. Dewey W. Pickelsimer wrote on the descendants of David Pickelsimer, son of Henry, Sr, one of the North Carolina branches of the family? I would like to get a copy of this material, as I am in the process of working on my next web page update, and am concentrating, at the moment of the descendants of Henry, Sr. I have another article that provides a lot of information on David's brother, Abraham, but not the article on David. If anyone can help supply a copy, please let me know. John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
I have a copy of this booklet and will be glad to provide the information for you. I will need your mailing address in order to send it. I descend from Abraham Picklesimer (brother of David) and his first wife, Eleanor Hooper, through their daughter Fannie Picklesimer who married (1) William Rufus Kerby. Would you like material on this and a copy of a magazine article I wrote on Fannie ("Aunt Fannie Smith--The Famous Hostess of Sinking Mountain") a number of years ago? I also many interesting photographs of Fannie. I have been engaged in genealogical research for about 40 years, but am a total novice at anything to do with a computer--a veteran of not quite six weeks. Therefore, I do not have material readily available to send via the internet, but still rely on tried and true "snail mail" for sending information to people. Could you please provide me, in simple outline form, what you consider the documented ancestry of Abraham and David Picklesimer beginning with their father Henry? Since entering the world of modern technology, I have seen several conflicting accounts. I look forward to hearing from you and hope I can be of assistance to you. I am researching the Beemer name. Is Beemer a variant of Behymer? Carolyn Lewis Co., WA
Susan Thanks for posting about Ollie Duckwall, as my father from Locust Corner used to speak with respect of what I suppose is this person. There can't be many. I especially like the last two lines of the poem Til we are lost, amid the gems, that gleam on memory's isle. Marion vonBeck nee Mary Ann Behymer I expect to take a trip soon where I will see one of the Behymer bibles. It will be with my cousin to visit another cousin. I will post about it afterward.

Hi all! Bev suggested I post this to the list, so here goes. Any misspellings are straight out of the paper.... John, I'll try to send you a scanned copy later this week, as is befitting of the "keeper of the Behymers!" ---Susan Olive, second daughter of Michael and Mary Ann Behymer, was born at Locust Corner, Clermont county, Ohio, September 30, 1848; she died at Locust Corner, December 4, 1914, aged 66 years, 3 months and 4 days. At the age of 19 she united with the M.E. church of this place and it need not be said she ever remained a faithful and useful member of the church of her choice. She was married to James P. Duckwall, September 14, 1887. After his death in January, 1906, she bravely assumed the responsibilities, necessary, as a useful member of the community in which she lived and loved and in which her entire life has been spent, being born and reared upon the farm, within sight of the one to which she came when married and where she lived until her death. She loved her home and made it a home of love and happiness, where one always received a warm welcome. She was always untiring and unselfish in her efforts to make others happy and even in her last illness, when she no longer had strength to take an active part in the affairs of the household, she was ever interested and ever planning for the comfort and welfare of others, rather than of herself. She was strong in her friendships, was ever the sale friend, wise counsellor, of broad judgment, which balanced her naturally sympathetic nature, yet firm in her beliefs. She recently remarked to a member of the family that "this is a beautiful world in which to live--but if I cannot stay longer, it is all right, so many of my dear ones have gone on and I may follow soon." We will miss her, but oh! what a precious memory she leaves to the sister, two brothers, neices, nephews and friends. "And now when absent, how we'll love, To call to mind the past, To count o'er every word she spoke Before we parted last; To gather up each look, each act, And number every smile-- 'Till we ar elost, amid the gems, That gleam on memory's isle."
In my great-grandmother's Bible, I found a newspaper clipping of the obituary of Olive Behymer Duckwall (daughter of Michael and Mary Ann Behymer). Unfortunately, neither the newspaper nor date of the newspaper was cut out with the obituary, although the obit itself does identify the date, including year, of her death. If anyone is interested in having a transcribed copy of the text of this obituary, please let me know and I'll be glad to forward it on. I may be able to scan this obit, but the print is very faint and I won't know for sure if it will scan until later this week when I have a chance to try it. I can be emailed directly at S_DeBrunner@prodigy.net --Susan in Tennessee
Fellow Behymer Researchers: I have just published an update to my web page. Point your browser to: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohnDoeTippet/ There are now just shy of 1,500 descendants of our common ancestor, Johan George Beckelhymer contained therein. The major change with this revision is that I am using a new format that uses individual htm files for each generation. This greatly reduces the amount of time that it takes to load the file. In addition, the data is much easier to read compared to the old "outline" format. The index file is still large, but quite a bit smaller than the prior version. I got rid of the string of ibids and also eliminated the index of places which I didn't find that useful. The index contains only names and marriages now. Also the "page not found" error that occured when using the index page has been fixed. Let me know what you think. Also, if you find any data in error, or want to contribute new information to this project, please contact me. John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
Thanks for sharing this peom. I loved it. Bill Martin

Fellow Behymer researchers: FYI: http://www.Ancestry.com has the Franklin County, VA marriage bonds available for free for the next week or so. Many of these bonds are of interest to Behymer researchers. John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
Fellow Behymer researchers: According to a reference I found in the Salt Lake City Mormon Library back in April of this year, Henry, John and Benjamin Beckelshymer left wills in Fulton County, IL. Sad to say, such is not the case, however, they did leave estates in Fulton County. Over 4 months ago, I wrote to the Fulton County Circuit Clerk requesting copies of the wills. They informed me that there were no wills, only the estates I mentioned previously. I just received photocopies of selected pages from these estates, and the following important information is contained therein. (1) Henry Beckelshymer died in Fulton County, IL on 31 Oct 1859. He left the following survivors: Nancy Jane Beckelshymer, his widow, Nancy Beckelshymer, age 21, Newton? (hard to read) Beckelshymer, aged about 19, Alexander Beckelshymer, age 9, Beckelshymer, an infant son, 2 months old. (2) A legal suit was filed on 16 Mar 1868 between David S Ray & Mary Ann Beckelshymer, administrators of the estate of Benjamin Beckelshymer, deceased Vs Caroline (Beckelshymer) Bainter and Scott Beckelshymer. In the document, Benjamin's death is indicated as 21 May 1857. He left surviving him, Mary Ann Beckelshymer, his widow, and the following children: Caroline Beckelshymer then married to Peter Bainter and Scott Beckelshymer, a minor child. (3) In the Sale Bills for John Beckelshymer's estate, the following names, along with many others, appear: Henry Beckelshymer, Benjamin Beckelshymer, Orvil France, Anna Beckelshymer, Thomas Beckelshymer, Lemuel Beckelshymer, Isaiah Beckelshymer, Rebecky (sic) Beckelshymer, Jesse Beckelshymer, Samuel Guthrie, Chapman B. hymer, Jesse France, Hosea Parvin, Thomas Guthrie, Martin B. hymer. The two Sale Bills I received copies of are dated 16 Jun 1847 and 10 Jul 1847. Regarding (3): other than the census enumerations, this is the first proof I have seen of the close association of Chapman and Martin Behymer with John Beckelshymer and his family. It seems obvious to me that Martin was the one who married Caroline Cummings on 22 Sep 1839 in Lawrence County, IN. He later shows up in the 1850 census of Fulton County, AR. Chapman appears in the 1840 and 1850 censuses in Fulton County, IL. Enjoy! John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com

The new settlers on the prairie finally had things to the point where they could think of applying the first coat of paint to the new church they had built. They ordered the paint through a catalog and got up a work party one Saturday to do the job. However, as the job near completion they realized they were going to run out of paint before they could finish. One of the members suggested that, since they had plenty of thinner, they could thin the paint enough to complete the job. That worked, the painting was completed, and as the cleanup was in progress, a large thunderstorm blew up and completely washed all the new paint from the church. As the storm subsided, a lightning bolt hit the ground near the church, and thunderous voice intoned, "Repaint and thin no more!"

Fellow Behymer researchers: Courtesy of Nancy Weaver Knight, who used to be a member of this list, but is no longer, check this out: Today I received the following notice about Ancestry. I looked for Aaron Behymer and found him in full text from California and Californian Vol 4. You might want to read that. I am unfamiliar with Sycamore Valley Ranch called Sycamore Grove. It appears to be the first camp of the Pioneers in June 1851. Interesting! >From Ancestry Daily News 13 Sept 1999: The month of September marks 149 years of statehood for the state of California, and in honor of this milestone, Ancestry is making its California databases that are normally available to members only, free to all visitors this week (until Monday, September 20). To see the entire list of California databases, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/dailynews/california.htm Go to this site, select Vol 4 of California and Californians, and enter Behymer in the search field. You will find some very interesting information about Lynden Ellsworth Behymer and his father, Aaron Sargeant Behymer (author of the diary). John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
Robert: The new vewion I plan to post this weekend I hope will be easier to follow. The old version was in outline format, but without indents. That is just the way TMG generates the report I and don't believe there is an option for indenting each generation. I have found a different report format that I think will be easier to read. Regarding the names, I used the spelling "Beckelhymer" throughout originally when I set up the database and continue to do so. In the future, I plan to use instead the version of the name that each descendant most commonly used. That is a long ways down in the queue, however, behind a lot of other inputting of new data that I have yet to do, most notably, a lot of the sources have yet to be entered for each piece of data. I think that is of higher priority than getting the spelling right.
