I would like to post some of my Hymer connections hoping it may amplify some information that other readers of the list may have. Like so may others, I descend through Johan George Beckelhymer, then Abraham, then Daniel. After that Daniel's son Samuel B. Hymer (b. ard. 1783) married Lydia Logsdon on 11 Jan. 1811 in Madison Co., Ky. Their son William B. Hymer was born Jan. 1825 in Estill Co., Ky. William B. Hymer married Ann Cox on 1 Sep. 1849. Ann Cox was the daughter of Charles Cox and Frances Murphy. She had earlier been married to a man named Reynolds. William B. Hymer died on 16 Aug. 1903 in Hunt Co., Texas. Ann Cox had evidently died some years before because William married a widow named Mary Catherine Adams Parsons, widow of Joseph Parsons. They were married on 30 Aug., 1886 in Jackson Co., Ky. Their son Joseph Edmond Hymer was born in 1887. The 1860 Estill County census shows that William B. Hymer and Ann had three young girls in their household: Lydia, age 6; Merideth, age 5; and Sarah, age 3. These girls do not show up in the 1870 census in this household. However the 1860 census also shows that Charles and Frances Cox were also living in the household, as well as Ancil Cox and his wife (Ancil Cox was a grandson or grandnephew of Charles Cox). Perhaps these girls were their children. Born to William B. Hymer and Ann Cox: 1. Josephine, b. ca. 1863, married John L. Talbott on 26 Dec., 1878, unknown when she died. 2. Margaret A., b. ca. 1866, married David Marcum on 8 Sep. 1890 in Jackson Co., Ky, unknown when she died. 3. Lucinda, b. 18 Oct. 1868, married Wm. R. Miller on 17 Jan. 1884 (this marriage annuled); married William S. Parsons 25 Nov. 1886 in Estill Co.; died in Hunt Co. Texas on 12 Sep. 1895. 4. Elijah Bequel Hymer, b. 1871 in Estill Co. He was my great-grandfather and married my great-grandmother, Sadie Elmina Wright on 3 May 1891 in Runnels Co. Texas. I hope this helps any readers of the list and if anyone can amplify the information, please let me know.
John, I just viewed your website and found me gggg-grandparents. I am a descendent of Sally Pickleheimer and Jacob Snidow (aka Sarah Becklehymer and Jacob Snyder) who married 6-Mar-1793. It is interesting to note the Snidows lived in Franklin Co, VA before moving to Montgomery (later Giles Co). They had a daughter, Sarah, who married Robert Johnston. I notice you have William and John Johnston marrying the Beckett girls -- do you know anything about these Johnstons? I am trying to connect my ggg-grandfather, Robert Johnston, to the Giles Co. Johnstons but have not been very successful. BTW, Sally and Jacob Snidow had two daughters -- Elizabeth and Sarah. Marie: As recorded in my database, Catherine was born 2 Jan 1796 in Franklin County, VA. However, based on her parents, Joseph Becklehymer and Christina Lazena, being listed in the tax lists for Montgomery County, VA every year from 1795 to 1803, I think it more probable that she was born in Montgomery County, VA. BTW: Joseph Beckelhymer and Christina Lazena are my ggg grandparents! Check out my web page where this family is documented. Can anybody help with this? My gr-grandparents were William Jackson and Harriett Behymer Married in Ripley Co, IN later moved to Illinois. I believe that William's parents were Henry and Keziah Hillis Jackson but from there the geneology gets tangled in controversy. Does anyone out there have some reliable data. Henry was said to be born in 1803 in North Carolina.

Fellow Behymer researchers: Because I was receiving many requests to make my web page more readable, I switched from a descendancy narrative where the whole output was stored in one overly large html file that took a long time to download, to a new format where each generation is in a seperate html file, with the various individuals and files linked together. Most of you, I believe, like this new format. I have just discovered, however, that there was an option that I neglected to select when I uploaded my web page in the new format. That option will add all of the information tags, not just the primary ones, to the file. What this means is that many of my notes, elaborations, disclaimers, etc. are not currently posted on my web page. The next update will correct this situation and will also add the following new data: (1) Descendants of Henry Pickelsimer, Sr's sons, Abraham and David of SC/NC (2) Clermont County births, 1869 - 1884 (3) Descendants of Henry Picklesimer, son of Jacob, Sr, courtesy of Deborah Haskett
This is woefully off-topic, but since it is of historical interest, I thought perhaps you wouldn't mind. The USS New Jersey [one of four of the Iowa-class, the greatest battleships ever built] is presently under tow from Washington state to New Jersey, via the Panama Canal. She is in or near the Balboa anchorage on the south end of the canal as we speak. She will remain in the canal area for the next few days to celebrate not only the [likely] last transit of the canal by a battleship, but also the 100th anniversary of the canal itself. New Jersey is scheduled to actually transit the canal on October 18th, around mid-afternoon eastern time, with all the pomp and circumstance accorded to such an occasion. In case the news media is absent or ignorant of the event, you can view a live webcast from the Miraflores locks: http://www.pancanal.com/photo/camera-java.html (The page says you have to have Netscape 4.6 (or some specific version of Explorer) to view the picture, but I have Netscape 4.5 and it works fine. There are some other things you have to have, such as Java, etc., but I don't know all that gibberish. My 5-year-old Mac at home can view the webcam just fine... my Gateway at work can't view it. No doubt some specific software is lacking, but don't ask me what. I don't do windoze...) You can also read a log of the last journey of the New Jersey, and other interesting history of the ship, at http://www.battleship-newjersey.com/voyage.html Enjoy.
