Fellow Behymer researchers: John Abraham Beckelhymer, son of Joseph Beckelhymer and Christina Lazena, born circa 1798 in Montgomery County, VA was supposedly living in Appanoose County, IA when the census was enumerated in 1870. Does anyone have a page number (or township) for this census enumeration? I would like to look it up, but do not want to wade through the whole county. John Charles Tippet johntippet@home.com
Fellow Behymer researchers: I would like some comments on the following theory regarding Elijah Behymer. He seems to be the only Behymer who appears in the early census records for Christian County, IL (1840 and 1850) and prior to that in Sangamon County, Il (1830) old enough to have been the father of the following Behymers who married in Christian County, IL: (1) Melinda Eleanor Behymer who married Jeremiah Robbins in 1843. (2) Frances E Behymer who married Harvey Seaborn in 1855 (3) Mary E Behymer who married John Swift in 1858 (4) William Behymer who married Emily E Goode in 1861 (5) Susannah Behymer who married William Godby in 1863 (6) Emma J Behymer who married Andrew J Wilkinson in 1872 (1) above is consistent with the daughter born 1815 to 1820 or 1820 to 1825 per the 1830 census (2) above is consistent with the daughter, Elizabeth, born circa 1836 per the 1850 census (3) above is consistent with the daughter, Mary, born circa 1839 per the 1850 census (4) above is consistent with the son, William, born circa 1838 per the 1850 census (5) above is consistent with the daughter, Susan, born circa 1835 per the 1850 census (6) above is likely a daughter of Elijah born after the 1850 census was enumerated. Elijah supposedly died in 1868 in Brown County, IL. Can anyone verify this? Also, if we could find Elijah enumerated in the 1860 census somewhere that would be very helpful. Does anyone have an 1860 census enumeration for Elijah? Lastly, there was a marriage of a Daniel Behymer to a Mary McKenzie in 1853 in Christian County. Is this Elijah's son, Daniel who first married Rebecca Hanks in Macon County, IL in 1841 and who supposedly married later Sarah Seahorn? John Charles Tippet johntippet@home.com P.S. Kathy Graham Friend: can you tell us more about your Henry Behymer. I assume he was the son of Elijah, born circa 1843 per the 1850 census. I have no information on him other than from the 1850 census.

Hello! I was happy to find there is another person researching Illinois Behymers. Perhaps Kathy's Henry Behymer and my Mary E. Beehimer were brother and sister, but I don't have proof yet that she is the Mary Beehimer in the 1850 Census, daughter of Elijah Beehimer. The age for Mary is right (age 11) as my Mary was born in 1839, but I've had trouble finding out anything else about her. Thanks! Mary eagle@ccipost.net

Mary: Nice to hear from one of the Illinois Behymers! I just posted some Illinois marriages on my web page. Included are the ones you indicated plus several others. Your Mary E Beehimer is one who I do not have in my database at the moment, i.e., she currently represents a missing link. Does anyone on this list have any information on her? The reason I inquired about Christian County, IL Behymers is that there were more of those listed in the Illinois marriages that I do not have in my database than any of the other Illinois Behymers. Obviously, I need to fill in the gaps here, and could use some help. I also was not aware of the 1860 census enumeration that you had found for Aaron. He represents yet another missing link. Does anyone have any information on him? Is there anyone on the list who has information on the Christian County, IL Behymers? John Charles Tippet johntippet@home.com
Hello Henry, I haven't had much time for researching but still keep up with all the postings on the list. I have learned a lot about my family from the people on the Behymer and Clermont Co. lists, and am anxious for more info. My father was Charles G. Behymer, son of Charles R. Behymer of Clermont Co., OH and Adele May Daniel, of Campbell Co., KY. (Also descended from William H. and Matilda Martin Behymer, Lewis and Hester Woods Behymer, Samuel and Sarah Ward Behymer, Solomon and Mary Webb Beckelhymer, etc.). You will find a lot of helpful info on John Tippet's website, hope you enjoy. Linda Adkinson
My father's sister, Raye Behymer, married a man named Ayer. Is this the same family? Marion vonBeck PS Also I will be going to Germany this fall on an Elderhostel trip. I will be in an area where I think the family I came to know as vonBechtoldsheimer came from. Any suggestions? Can I look up anything for anyone?
