Hi, All- Below please find a transcript of the text of the will of Solomon Behymer, husband of Mary (Polly) Webb, kindly provided to me by Sallye. It is conceivable that y'all who are descended from Solomon already have this document, but it is new to me and I forward it for your edification. Any spelling errors are verbatim from the handwritten copy I was sent, including the spelling of his last name. A couple weeks ago Sallye asked (on the list, I believe) if anyone has looked to see if a distribution of the property was done after Mary died, as Solomon stipulated. Mary died, ironically, 128 years ago today, 20 Sep 1870, but my records don't show where she died. [my records indicate that Solomon is buried at the Mt. Holly Congregational Chapel.] Has anyone done any research here? As there are some questions regarding how many children they had, the distribution of the estate after Mary's death may be illuminating. ++++++++++++ The Last Will and Testament of Solomon Behymer: "In the name of the Benevolent Father of All, I Solomon B Hymer of the County of Clermont and State of Ohio, being of sound mind and memmory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, to wit: 1st: It is my will that all my just debts be fully paid - 2nd: It is my will that Mary B Hymer who keeps house for me have all my property both real and personal during her natural life - 3rd: It is my will that at the decease of said Mary B Hymer that all my property that is left unexpended by her both real and personal be equally divided between all my children their heirs and assigns forever. Lastly, I appoint my friend Thomas Sheldon Executor of this my last will and testament, hereby annulling all former wills by me made, and hereby ratifying and confirming this as my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of September AD 1851." Solomon Behymer (seal) signed and sealed in our presence Thomas Sheldon Franklin Whiting ++++++++++++++++ Tom Robison Ossian, Indiana tcrobi@adamswells.com Never forget the importance of history. To know nothing of what happened before you took your place on earth, is to remain a child forever. [unknown]
I would like to hear some discussion on this list re: the wife of John, Sr being Elizabeth Rinker. As far as I can tell, the only source for this surname is from the IGI and it is unverified and propagating like kudzu! I most confess that I have helped to propagate this "fact" as well. John Wayne and John Walter Picklesimer make a pretty convincing argument that the Anne and Elizabeth who show up in various Virginia records as the wife of John, Sr are, in fact, one and the same person. What does the list say to this? Shall we toss out Rinker, or can someone "show us the beef"? Are Anne and Elizabeth the same person, and while I am on this topic, are Barbara Wettil/Wadle/etc, wife of John, Jr and Sarah one and the same person? John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
Thanks for the info. I just sent the query trying to help someone I have been communicating with through the Behymer rootsweb mailing list. I hope you don't mind, I sent her your e-mail address so she can connect with you herself and try to find her ancestors. I think I descend from Jonathan and Anne Elizabeth (Rinker) Beckelhymer of Botetourt Co., just recently made the connection so am still in the process of confirming it. Thanks for your response. Linda
All of your serious (and not so serious) Behymer researchers out there: I need help in understanding where the various David Behymers fit in. On 15 Jan 1802, David Behymer executed a bond to marry Elizabeth Sailor in Franklin County, VA. On 14 Jun 1802, another David Behymer execuled a bond to marry Sarah Moore, also in Franklin County, VA. There is an estate in Clermont County, OH circa Jul 1818 for a David Behymer, with wife, Elizabeth. Aaron Behymer's diary says that the David who was one of the nine (or more) Behymer brothers (sons of John, Sr) stayed in VA, never coming to Ohio. There is a Sally Behymer in the 1820 census of Preble County, OH living next to Jonathan Behymer, probable son of John, Sr. Yet another David Behymer married Elizabeth Smith on 18 Jun 1794 in Montgomery County, VA; they removed to Campbell County, KY and then later to Floyd County, KY and founded one line of the eastern Kentucky Picklesimers (from "The Picklesimers of Eastern Kentucky"). A David Behymer of Grayson County, VA purchased land from William Smith in Montgomery County, VA on 23 Sep 1806. >From all this, it appears that there are at least 3 separate Davids: (1) the one who founded one line of the eastern Kentucky Picklesimers - he is thought to be the son of John, Sr, Abraham, Sr or Jacob, Sr, which is unknown (2) the one who married Sarah Moore (is she the Sally Behymer in Preble County, OH in 1820?) - is he the son of John, Sr? (3) the one who married Elizabeth Sailor (is she the widow of the David who died in Clermont County, OH? - as seems likely) - who is this David's father - is it John, Sr as opposed to the David who married Sarah Moore? - given the Clermont County connection, could Aaron have been wrong in his diary when he said that David stayed in VA, never coming to OH and that he is, in fact, a son of John, Sr? (Note: it is curious that this marriage was not referenced in the book by John Wayne and John Walter Picklesimer - comments, John and John?) Comments greatly appreciated. BTW: I have spent most of this weekend documenting the material that is in the book referenced above (I am currently at item 23 of 110 and it is a slow-going and tedious process). For any of you who do not have this book, it is a must - an incredible amount of research went into it!. When completed, I will be adding (and correcting) a lot of the data that was included in my initial posting to the new Behymer web site. I am probably at least two more weeks away from posting an update. In the meantime, I haven't heard from anyone on this list. I would be happy to include any corrections or additions that others think is appropriate. John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
John, We did not make any claim to having all of the recorded transactions relating to the Picklesimer family members, only those that we found. I know that there are records out there somewhere that will assist us in determining who the parents of Abraham Adam and David were. We just have not found them either! John W.
Thanks a lot, Twila. The list is great! Linda

John Sorry, I think I deleted your website...besides I spent two days supervising my daughter how to plant iris bulbs. My kids think that since I broke my leg, I can't do anything. Sometimes, I think it just affected by brain! Oh, well, I love supervising anyway. John, I do tip my hat to you starting a new website. I am lost in the net before I ever turn it on. As an old timer, I still feel like I have to check with the courts, libraries, etc. Its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Anyway, I will help you as much as I can, and will not bite if and when you make a mistake. I may question you...my son really gets upset if I question him...but I keep telling him, my folks were from Missouri, it being th "show me" state, and I picked up all their habits. I have some more FRS to send you. Do they help? Sallye

I am seeking information on my great-grandmother, Sarah BEHYMER. She was born in 1860 probably in northern Ky., and married James HERBERT. She died in 1908 and is buried in New Richmond, Ohio but the funeral home records say she died in Newport, Ky. I have no other information on her AT ALL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
