Tom Robison: I have an E-mail from you dated 1 Sep 1998 in which you list Samuel Behymer and Sarah Ward's children as all being born in Madisonville, Campbell County, KY. I have found Samuel and Sarah in 1840, 1850 and 1860 in Ohio township, Clermont County, OH per the census returns. How do you explain this? Regards... John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com

COMPUTER OPERATORS My neighbor works in the Operations Department in the Central office of a large bank. Employees in the field call him when they have a problem with their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks who had this question: "I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal. Do you guys have a fire downtown?" That is all for today! I finally received the 6 microfilms I ordered through the Ohio Historical Society via Inter-library loan containing back issues of the Clermont Courier! They are: #26613 (1850-1852 & 1857-1860), #26620 (1889-1892), #26621 (1892-1894), #26616 (1879-1881), #26622 (1894-1897) and 26614 (1860-1862, 1875-1876). The good news is they are here. The bad news is that they only are giving me 2 weeks to read through them all! If any of you out there would like to volunteer to read some of the other microfilms, I have this advice: (1) only order 1 or 2 films (they cost $3 each), and it will take a good two weeks to go through them with any degree of thoroughness, (2) post the films you ordered to the list so that we don't duplicate our efforts, (3) the later issues seem to have more genealogical tidbits than the earlier ones - I am currently reading through the year 1889, and I find that about every fourth issue there is a blurb on the 10 mile valley, which usually has info on a Behymer or two, (4) be prepared to wait a month or two (or three!) after you have ordered the films before they actually arrive, (5) print out the newspaper index for Clermont County from the Ohio Historical Society web page (see my link to it at the new Behymer homepage at: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohnDoeTippet/ and (6) be prepared for a lot of hard work - this is a tedious business, but interesting and worth the effort! A few interesting tidbits found on my first reading are: (1) Jacob Behymer was a reverend in the Church of the Brethren in Clermont County (2) Henry Custer died Mar 30, 1890 and he was a cousin of General George Armstrong Custer! I would assume from this that Christian Custer who married a Beckelhymer was also a relative. (3) A John Behymer lived in St Louis in 1890 (4) Tobacco was grown in Clermont (I guess there is a town by that name, so that shouldn't be too surprising) (5) O. P. Behymer lived in Flower Creek, KY (6) Mrs O. P. Behymer and daughter, Annie lived in Grant's Lick, KY (7) A nice blurb on Mr & Mrs Samuel J. Behymer celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec 12, 1889.

Sallye, thanks for gathering all this info. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner on this but I've not had much time for email lately. Yes, I did have the records from Estill Co, KY. However, I'd not traced Elijah any further than to see that he moved to Christian Co, IL. I have very little info on his descendants. Kathy Friend is a descendant of Elijah, so I'm sure she'll also be quite interested in your findings. Thanks again. Later...
