This is a something that is running rampant in this age of mass information. We have opened a new page on our web site that addresses this problem. There are over One Hundred family "genealogies" listed that have been corrupted by one person. We must become aware of what is out there and what to look for. This section of our web site will grow with updates and is open to all. Another contribution to the Behymer list: The pension record indexes for the War of 1812 list the following: (1) Martin Behymer served in Capt. Robert Haines Company of OH Militia. He received bounty land for his service. He enlisted 29 Jul 1813 and was discharged 13 Aug 1813. He left a widow, Elizabeth (Lindsay) Behymer who received a pension for his service. He died on 19 Jul 1881 in Carthage, KY. He married Elizabeth Lindsay on 11 May 1827 in Clermont County, OH. Martin's first wife was Lucinda Beagle. Martin's widow lived in Carthage, KY in 1881. Martin lived in Campbell County, KY in 1855, Clermont County, OH in 1872 (P. O. Alexandria, Campbell County, KY) and in Carthage, Campbell County, KY in 1878. (2) Samuel Beckett served as a private in Capt. William Currin's Company of VA Militia. He received bounty land for his service. He enlisted 13 Feb 1815 and was discharged on 28 Feb 1815. He left a widow, Amy (Fitzpatrick) Beckett who received a pension for his service. He died on 27 Jun 1880 in Nine Mile, OH. His widow died on 17 Sep 1893 in Brazier, Clermont County, OH. Samuel lived in 1855 and from 1871 to 1879 in Clermont County, OH (P O Withamsville). His widow lived in Bethel, Clermont County, OH in 1880 and in Nine Mile, Clermont County, OH in 1881 and 1887. (3) Isaac Picklehymer, aka PHymer or Hymer served as a private in Capt. Richard's Company of KY Volunteers. His widow, Polly obtained a pension for his service. At this point, I have found no other Behymers listed in the pension rolls, but I have not given up on looking for the elusive John and Levi. They (brothers to Martin), as well as Samuel (son of Joseph Beckelhymer and Christina Lazena) are shown listed in the military records index as having served. Alas... I was at the Santa Monica LDS family history center yesterday, and I found a few things that I thought the Behymer list might find interesting. In a book listing marriages in Preble County, OH there are the following: (1) Sally Beckelhamer md Abraham Soner (sic) on 21 Mar 1822 by John Hart, M. G., p. 110 (2) Hannah Kensey md Joseph Overholts on 23 Aug 1821 by John I Vandever, J P, p. 110 (3) Daniel Kinsey md Catherine Overholt on 22 Mar 1821 by James Crawford, p. 108 Comments on the above: (1) There were many other Stoner marriages listed, and as we already know from the deed listing Jacob Kinsey's heirs, Abraham's last name was Stoner, not Soner. This confirms what I surmised in a prior E-mail I sent to this list. (2) I am now of the firm belief that this Sally (maiden name Kinsey) was first married to Enoch Beckelhymer and then secondly to Abraham Stoner. My rationale for this conclusion is: (a) Jonathan and Enoch (as well as brothers Joel and Daniel) were living close to one another in Campbell County, KY in 1814 per the tax rolls, (b) all lived in Clermont County, OH later, (c) one of the administrator's of Enoch's estate was Sally, likely his wife, (d) Enoch died circa 10 Aug 1816 in Clermont County, OH per his estate records, (e) both Jonathan and Sally are next found living next door to one another in Preble County, OH per the 1820 census enumeration - after her husband's death, Sally accompanied Jonathan to Preble County, OH to be near Jonathan's wife (her sister) as well as her other brothers and sisters who resided there (3) I plan to track down Abraham Stoner and wife, Sally in the later census and/or land records. We know they were living in Montgomery County, OH in 1828. This is important as knowing Sally's age more accurately will help us to estimate Enoch's approximate year of birth. The only thing we have to estimate Enoch's year of birth at this point is that he was likely at least as old as his wife, Sally (b 1775 - 1794 per the 1820 census enumeration), and he would have to have been at least 21 to have been listed on the tax rolls in 1814 for Campbell County, KY (therefore, born before 1793). (4) The following is what I have so far been able to piece together for the Kinsey clan (note: some of the information, on Henry and wife, Eve, e.g. comes from the Franklin County, VA land transactions - also note that Susanna, Jonathan's wife indicated that she was a niece of Eve Kinsey as well as John Kinsey in the LDS early church information index cards, so this is all starting to fit together): Descendancy Narrative of (--?--) Kinsey I. (--?--) Kinsey A. Jacob Kinsey married Juliann (--?--). He died before 4 September 1828. 1. David Kinsey 2. Elizabeth Kinsey married Martin Reed. She and Martin Reed lived on 21 November 1826 Hamilston County, OH. 3. John Kinsey 4. Jacob Kinsey 5. Daniel Kinsey married Catherine Overholtz on 22 March 1821 Preble, OH. 6. Hannah Kinsey married Joseph Overholtz on 23 August 1821 Preble, OH. 7. Catherine Kinsey married James Burk. She lived on 19 August 1826 Butler County, OH. 8. Sarah Kinsey was also known as Sally. She was born between 1775 and 1794. She married Enoch Beckelhymer, son of John Beckelhymer Sr. She married Abraham Stoner on 21 March 1822 Preble, OH. She lived on 5 September 1828 Montgomery County, OH. 9. Susanna Kinsey was born on 12 June 1790 Franklin County, VA. She married Jonathan Beckelhymer, son of John Beckelhymer Sr and Elizabeth Rinker. She and Jonathan Beckelhymer appeared on the census of 1820 Preble County, OH. She and Jonathan Beckelhymer lived on 6 June 1827 Clermont County, OH. She and Jonathan Beckelhymer appeared on the census of 1830 in Ohio township, Clermont County, OH. She and Jonathan Beckelhymer had the patriarchal blessing in the Mormon Church (officiator Isaac Morley) on 28 February 1838 Jackson, Cape Girardeau, MO. She and Jonathan Beckelhymer were members of the 4th ward of the Mormon Church in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Il in the Spring of 1842 circa May 1842. She and Jonathan Beckelhymer were endowed into the Mormon Church on 17 December 1845 Nauvoo Temple, Nauvoo, Hancock, IL. B. Henry Kinsey married Eve (--?--). He lived on 15 August 1804 Franklin County, VA. He lived on 2 April 1810 Montgomery County, OH. C. John Kinsey lived on 2 April 1810 Botetourt County, VA. D. Catherine Kinsey married Jacob Lemons. I would appreciated any comments... John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
Sallye: I was at the Santa Monica LDS family history center yesterday, and I found a few things that I thought you might find interesting. In a book listing marriages in Lawrence County, IN there are the following: (1) Andrew Beckelshymer md Elizabeth Briney on 30 Sep 1830 (2) Charles Beckelshymer md Ann Briney on 27 Apr 1831 (3) Samuel Guthrie md Catharine Beckelshymer on 13 Aug 1829 (4) Samuel Guthrie md Sophia Haws on 16 Dec 1831 (5) Noah M Matheney md Catharine Bekymer (sic) on 4 Jul 1839 (6) Charlotte Beckelshymer md Fulton Littlon (sic) on 10 Aug 1851 (7) Ann Beckelshymer md James Litton on 22 Nov 1835 (8) Benjamin Beckelshymer md Mary A Holmes on 14 Jan 1838 (9) Henry Beckelshymer md Elizabeth Myers on 4 Feb 1835 (10) Martin Beckelshymer md Caroline Cummings on 22 Sep 1839 Comments on the above: (1) The dates for items (1), (2) and (7) are different than what is listed on the family group sheet you sent me (2) Since Samuel Guthrie married a second time, it is likely that his first wife, Catharine Beckelshymer died circa 1830 (unless they were divorced) (3) What do you make of item 5? I don't know if this is another Behymer or not (4) Item 6 I assume is the Charlotte who was the Daughter of Charles Beckelshymer and Ann Briney (note: there are several other marriages for Littons, so I assume that Littlon was just a misspelling) (5) I don't where the Beckelshymers mentioned in items 7 or 10 fit in. Do you? John Charles Tippet JohnDoeTippet@csi.com
Please ignore, disregard, delete, glossover, etc, the following if you have no interest in loss of rights and freedoms. I apologize in advance to those who have no interest, are affronted or who have no disk space for such thoughts. The following web site has an interesting 10 part series on abuse of power by the Department of Justice. Please review it if you are concerned about your freedoms. http://www.post-gazette.com/win/schedule.asp Out of control Legal rules have changed, allowing federal agents, prosecutors to bypass basic rights November 22, 1998 By Bill Moushey, Post-Gazette Staff Writer Loren Pogue has served eight years of a 22-year federal prison sentence on drug conspiracy and money laundering charges. Pogue, a Missouri native, never bought drugs, never sold them, never held them, never used them, never smuggled them, never even saw them. But because federal prosecutors allowed a paid government informant to lie about Pogue's involvement in the sale of a parcel of land to supposed drug smugglers, he was convicted. Under tough federal sentencing guidelines, a judge had no choice but to give the Air Force veteran what might effectively be a death sentence. Pogue father of 27 children, 15 of them adopted is 65. He doesn't expect to leave prison alive, and as details later in this story will show, he is baffled that the government he served for more than 30 years worked so hard to betray him. In another case, hundreds of miles away, federal agents interrogated businessman Dale Brown for four hours at a Houston, Texas, warehouse. When he tried to leave, they stopped him. When he asked for a lawyer, they refused to get him one. After Brown finally was charged in a government sting called Operation Lightning Strike, federal prosecutors denied that the warehouse interrogation had even happened. They said the dozen others who reported the same coercive tactics in the sting were making it up, too. Federal sting operations are supposed to snare criminals, but in Operation Lightning Strike, federal agents spent millions of dollars entrapping innocent people who worked on the periphery of the U.S. space program. The evidence against them was contrived. The guilty pleas were coerced. Those who fought the charges won.
Jerry: Nice to make a new contact! Rebecca Henry's parents were: John Henry and Elizabeth Beckelhymer. Elizabeth was the daughter of Abraham and Christina Beckelhymer. Four of the 5 daughters of John France all married Beckelhymers: Esther married Levi, Eve married Joel, Elizabeth married Jacob, and Mary married Daniel. I have been actively researching the Beckelhymer family for a long time. The name also appears as Behymer, Picklesimer and more than 60 other variations! If you go to my web page at: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/JohnDoeTippet you will find a descendancy narrative (through 5 generations) of John Georg Beckelhymer, the progenitor of the Beckelhymer family in America. He was an Elder in the Church of the Brethren in Amwell, NJ. You should find many Frances listed therein. There is a Behymer mailing list on rootsweb that you might want to join. Given the close tie between these two families, I suspect you might find some of the people on the list having information on the France family. I assume you have seen the book: France and Craigo Families of Sullivan County, Missouri and Their Ancestral Families Henry and Beckelshymer by Dr Lucille Dillinger Alexander. I copied some pages of a microfilmed version of the book from my local LDS family history center. The copy is somewhat difficult to read, but I could send it to you if you would like. I talked to Dr Alexander, recently, and she is still somewhat involved in genealogy. I assume you and she are cousins. All for now (and Happy Thanksgiving!) ... I think it is possibly due to the similarities of my name and yours. As you seem to be the sender of many of the items, can you help me get my name OFF the routing for the Behymers, Pickelsmeyers, et al??? It seems like I get 5 -1 0 messages daily, and although I am sure these are all nice folks I really have no interest in this geneology stuff. So I am appealing to you, can you get me "Out of the Loop" and off the EMail Listing? Gratefully, Gundy@aol.com ==== BEHYMER Mailing List ==== What's in a name? Marion, This George is a son of Michael, and grandson of Joel & Eva France, born about 1842. What family do you belong to? I am from the John & Barbara (Weddle) Behymer late of Clermont, OH, VA and wherever! As far as I can tell Daniel had no descendants. I know the census shows otherwise, but if they were his children they must have died young. I'd be interested in knowing your family...are you a member of this group? Sallye Gundy Martin
I have a cousin named George Behymer - I wonder if it is him. Marion vonBeck aka Mary Ann Behymer
