    1. [BEHREND] Looking for Behrend/Berendts with ties to Ilberstedt/Bernburg/Magdeburg
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bsdbluz Surnames: Berendts Behrend Berend Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.behrend/57/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would be interested in corresponding with any Behrend / Berendts researchers who have ancestral roots that tie back to the area in Germany around Magdeburg, Bernburg and Ilberstedt. The spelling of my family name as "Berendts" is consistent across all my ancestors dating back to 1765. My family roots are primarily from the tiny village of Ilberstedt, but there is reason to believe that family relations lived within the general area (Bernburg & Magdeburg). The spelling of the family seems have originally been Behrend dating to an ancestor born in 1765. Relations to the family may have also used used the last name spelling of "Berend" according to some baptismal records. I have recently worked with a professional genealogist and have been able to add 4 generations to my family records back to about 1734. This has opened a whole new avenue of research that I would like to pursue with others who may have a similar family name with roots in the stated area. Thank you for any replies.
