Jean, in reply to your question about my keeping records of where I got information from: I started out researching the Bedsole crowd for my own benefit in 1960. I travelled all over. I went to Ala., NC, Tenn., Miss., La., Ga., Calif., and lots of other states. In 1993 and 1994, I went to Germany, England and Ireland. It seems like I have talked to a million people. I did not tape stuff, but wrote notes after a conversation. Well, after about 50 years of this , you can imagine what kind of a pile of paper you would have accumulated. But all this time, I had no intention whatsoever of ever needing to know where I got something, when, or who from. I simply wanted to know the history of this name. First of all I had no idea any other person on earth was trying to get information too, much less who they could have been. But I talked to Bedsole people, police officers, fire departments, store owners, people in post offices, anywhere and anybody I thought might have information or know anything or anybody concerning the name Bedsole. I even stopped and talked to whoever had Bedsole on their mail boxes. Now, in 1999, with computers and my getting involved in genealogy, I can see that I needed to have kept all that stuff, but I did'nt. Like I said, you can get information from several places in bits and pieces and then you have to make sense out of it, if you can. Now I have a ton of information and two lists of a bunch of Bedsole's, which jive with other people's stuff and I have not found any real errors in my lists. So I did a really good job. Now, that is a round about way of saying no, I did'nt keep records. I had no reason to though.....Sorry I can't be of much help in that department.....Jean, this is no barb at you whatsoever, but your question is a good one for everybody, since so many people are getting in on the Genealogy business. Let me warn everybody that we do have a few guys who really are lawyers in the Bedsole crowd and they want proof of everything.
