I have just found John COOPER ( b. Haynes 1799) in this institution in 1841 - and I thought he was probably away from home working on the land! I note that there is also a Bedford gaol. Presumably the more serious crimes were punished by gaol - or is that not so - and might it be possible to find a record of why he was sent there? Ann Lavery
