Hello everyone, Is anyone researching the Samuel family from Blunham ? I am particularly looking for Thomas Samuel's parents and some clarification that he had two wives. Thomas was born around 1810 in Blunham and was a carpenter. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, Thankyou, Elizabeth.

Hi Elizabeth, I looked on the 1851 census index for Blunham to see if your Thomas' parents were still alive, but the eldest Samuel was Thomas himself at 41, but it says he was born in Old Warden. His wife was Mary Ann, aged 35 and there are possibly 9 children between 1month and 18 yrs. I'm saying possibly, because there is no knowing that they are all his family since it is only an index, not the actual census page. If you would like the details, just ask. There is also a Samuel Samuel (no kidding!) aged 33 in Sandy(Girtford) also born in Old Warden. Could he be a brother of Thomas? The Old Warden PR transcript (and the IGI) has a Thomas Rainsdon Samuel baptised on 11 Feb 1810, son of Edward and Mary, labourer. Edward Samuel married Mary Rainsdon at Old Warden on 21 July 1803. Edward was of the parish of Southill and Mary otp. In 1841 his wife was Maria, 30, and there's a burial in Blunham of a Maria Samuell age 33 on 4 Aug 1843. There's also a burial in Blunham on 19 July 1843 of Selina Samuell, infant, so I imagine the two may well be connected. The IGI has a marriage in Sandy on 31 May 1830 between Thomas Samuel and Maria Powell, but I can't see a second marriage - as MaryAnn was said to be born in Blunham I'd have thought the marriage should have been there. But Blunham marriages only go up to 1846 on the IGI and although they have a 5 year old son in 1851 it's possible the marriage might have been later.
