Hello Listers How can I find out more about some miscreants who appear on the Bedfordshire Gaol Register in the first half of the 19th century, please?. There are references given e.g BLARS QGV 10/1. I would love to check to see if the William WOODLAND (b 1783/4) who is shown in the register in 1833 and 1844 is my 'missing' 3 x great grandfather. (DoB and PoB tally.) TIA Phyll Clover

Hi Phyll It's worth contacting Beds record office. I found - quite by chance- the name of a relative mentioned in David Hawkings' book 'Criminal Ancestors'. When I contacted the Beds Archives, they were extremely helpful and sent me several newspaper articles.
