Two points - Berkhamstead in in Hertfordshire. And a registration in Berkhamsted district does not mean that the person died in the small town of Berkhamsted - it could be any of the parishes around. A marriage could have taken place in any church or chapel within the district, or the Register Office itself. The burial could also have taken place in any churchyard or chapel burial ground. As you have piut this on the Bds list, do you have a previous connection of the family to a particular place in Bedfordshire? The simplest way of getting the information you require would be to buy the certifgicate - unless anyone happens to know the fami;ly from personal research, of course. -- Eve McLaughlin Author of the McLaughlin Guides for family historians Secretary Bucks Genealogical Society
The reason that I sentt a message to the Bedford list is that the list is described as being for those interested in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, I also sent one to the Hertfordshire list. I have sent for the marriage certificate already and I know that the lady in question died in Berkhampstead where she was living with her family. I have been researching for a number of years and am aware that marriages, cchristenings and burials may take place anywhere in the area of the named registration district Thank you for your interest ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eve McLaughlin" <eve@varneys.demon.co.uk> To: <BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 26 June 2006 17:17 Subject: Re: [BDF] Berkhampstead PR's > In message <004301c6976d$5474ad80$05fdf93e@oemcomputer>, > rwtgreenlarksmead@freeola.com writes > >Good morning, is there anyone on the list who has access to the PR's of > >Berkhampstead? if so would they be kind enough to do two look ups for me. > > Two points - Berkhamstead in in Hertfordshire. > And a registration in Berkhamsted district does not mean that the person > died in the small town of Berkhamsted - it could be any of the parishes > around. > A marriage could have taken place in any church or chapel within the > district, or the Register Office itself.
