Hi Peter I think the 1861 age for Sarah is wrong - age 53 when she had William seems a bit old (did you notice in 1861 William's occupation is "Idiot"?) In 1861 Census, unmarried William is shown at Haynes with mother Sarah age 78 born Maulden and Charlotte Cox age 17, grandaughter. I can't find the birth of William on IGI or FreeBMD nor a CRAWLEY + COX marriage around the time of his birth. I believe this Sarah could possibly be my ggg grandmother, Sarah Cox (nee Coleman) c1785. Her first husband was Christopher Cox of Maulden. They married in 1810 and had 11 children. Christopher Cox was sentenced to transportation in 1831 after his son brought home a stolen turkey. I believe he died on the prison hulks and, unlike his son, can find no record of arrival in Australia. Sarah would be around mid 40's when her husband died. I am assuming that she re-married Mr Crawley around 1834. Charlotte COX appears to be the daughter of Sarah's son Francis COX. If he can't be found on parish records, perhaps somebody would be good enough to try and find William Crawley b1835 in 1841 or 1851 Census and find his father and anyone else living in the household.
