However, there are anecdotal references to influenza in the years [1835/7] you are interested in and it seemed to be a widespread epidemic throughout the country rather than local to Bedfordshire. Try a subject search at Beds Archives. http://blars.adlibsoft.com/form.html cathy Ps: I will be in touch off-list re one branch of Maulden NORTHWOODs

    1. Maulden - Emerton family

    3. Hi listers With the talk of Maulden I thought I would post my research interest in that parish. The earliest ancestor was John EMERTON / EMMERTON, hemp dresser, married to Grace (maiden name unknown) and who had a family of ten children baptised in Maulden between 1752 and 1768 of whom five died as infants. Their daughter Grace married John BRIANT in 1776 John EMERTON's eldest son Stephen 1753-1780 (he didn't last very long either!) married Kitty PARKER in Maulden in 1775 and had two sons Stephen & Edward. Kitty was born in Flitton and evidently returned there after her husband's death as she married Thomas STUDMAN there in 1789. Stephen EMERTON Jr married Elizabeth HUNT in 1802 in Flitton and Edward married Mary WATTS in 1801 in Flitton. Edward settled in the Silsoe area. Would be interested to hear from anyone with knowledge of this family. Regards Kerrie
