    3. Hi Peter, Thanks for the reply. That is the right Ephraim (my gg grandfather), and I never found the father. Ephraim was actually born in July 1839 and christened in 1844. Mary married a couple of years later but didn't take Ephraim, so I assume the groom was not his father. Ephraim was raised by his grandparents (Mary's parents) and never knew he was not theirs, as when he married his grandfather had become his father. While this may sound strange there was a logical explanation. Ephraims' mother was one of 9. Her eldest sister Charlotte was born in 1812 and died in 1832. In c1839 her parents had another child, very late in life, and also called this one Charlotte (baptised November 1839). So in reality while Ephraim was raised with his aunts and uncles, he could qutie as easily been passed of as their son as there was only a few months between Ephraim and Charlotte the second. I have been looking over many years. I know I didn't put in the dates, but I was hoping that anyone with Underwood's in their tree would pick up on the spouse names. Underwood is a common name. The dates range between John Henry born c1867 and Arthur born 1889. Ephraim was born in Ampthill and married and died in Luton. Susan Holloman came from Long Crendon and died in Luton. All the kids were born in Luton and mainly stayed there. Thanks for you input, will check out that family trees site. Have a good weekend.
