Dear All Thankyou so much to all who responded re my pensioner query. Your suggestions are fascinating. I went for the charity/ poor relief until I remembered his marrying quite late. I had originally thought there would be another earlier wife but now I'm considering the army. It would make sense but how to find out at this distance (Perth WA) is a bit of a challenge!
