    3. Dear Diana, As a long time resident of Broom I can tell you that the Fordham Almshouses were built by Rupert Fordham in 1913 in memory of his wife Janet, who was killed in a huntimg accident. They are quite distinctive with curved roofs, porches and windows. They were restored in 1985. You may hear from Stella Watkin who has done a lot of work on The Bedfordshire Village Book, which is often mentioned on this site. Regards. Elizabeth King. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana Mehew" <d.mehew@ntlworld.com> To: <BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 23, 2006 11:48 PM Subject: [BDF] Alsmhouses > Dear all > > I'm taking part in a nationwide project on almshouses, co-ordinated by The > Family & Community Historical Research Society.
