Hello Mike - any advice you receive here is totally subjective, but I hope it won't be too conflicting! Personally I use a range of websites. You could start with www.familysearch.org - the website run by the LDS Church - FREE and has parish registers, 1881 census and the IGI. Another good one to start with is www.Rootsweb.com, which is a FREE site linked to Ancestry. It has message boards linking you with other genealogists with similar interests. www.Ancestry.com can be pay-as-you-go or by subscription. I have found it really useful as it has all the UK census from 1841 - 1901. It also has the BMD register. Both of these are fully searchable. Another site is www.1837online.co.uk this one has all the BMD information and some census. You have to pay for this one too. Hope this has been useful. My first question is could someone recommend any good websites for family history. I'm in Australia but I'm first generation here so my Mum and Dad are English so I wondered what would be the best site to use. I'm researching Brazier in Bedfordshire to start. My email address is brazier@hn.ozemail.com.au. Thank you. Kind regards.
