I'm still fairly new to this game. Could you enlighten me > about the "BVRI2" ?, is this an online source, Free access, > subscription, etc ? BVRI2 is the second edition of the British Vital Records Index, available on CD from the LDS. It's an extension to the IGI and contains a lot of parish register entries (births and marriages only). Some of these records are now in the on-line IGI, although we were told they wouldn't be when the BVRI was first issued. Coverage is patchy, but, in general, if an area is well-represented in the IGI, it's also well-represented on the BVRI. (If the LDS weren't allowed to film the registers, as, for example, in Northamptonshire, there's not much anyone can do.) It's an extremely useful set if it has what you want, but some purchasers have been very disappointed.
