    3. Hi David That is exactly what I am looking for, am at the moment trawling through looking for all the Coopers, the other links Tilleys and Hursts die out in Henlow shortly after the emigration to the Colonies, although I have Hursts popping up again much later. I also have a lot of Cooper's in Hexton as well as Henlow. Cheers Patti ----- Original Message ----- From: David To: BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, November 29, 2005 10:36 AM Subject: Re: [BDF] DENNIS Family Upper Gravenhurst Hi Patti You'll find that there's a couple of missing Cooper links in the 1600s which connect later Henlow Coopers, like me, to the Coopers/Tillys/Sampsons who sailed on the Mayflower. Wills and the balance of probabilities are required! I know what a pain it is, after having my bedroom and bathroom completely renovated this year - six months of pure chaos. I bought 5 parish registers and hope to buy more later, I bought Upper and Lower Gravenhurst, Shillington, Barton and Henlow. I have just started going through Henlow and have found some early Dynnis that we dont have in our files, I havent extracted them yet as I'm working on HURST, COOPER/COWPER and TILLEY at the moment - I find its easier to go through the registers extracting 2 or 3 surnames at a time rather than doing all of them and getting completely frustrated! Take care, and hope everything is going well. In 1988 we had a large extension built on our house, a room off the dining room, which my teenage children, the ages they were then, used to use for friends and music, anything to keep them out of the bedrooms, and which is now the computer room with all my family history files, reference books, records etc. in, and a bedroom with ensuite bathroom over the garage for my husband and myself, a new central heating system and the front door pulled forward to create a porch and a double entry to the house. We knew that the shower in our bathroom had been leaking but did not realise that there was a hole in the floor and the water brought down the ceiling of the utility room, so for the last fortnight we have had the builders in and have had to sleep in one of the spare bedrooms, we have four altogether, not really conducive to a good nights sleep, don't you get used to your own bed, I now have permanent backache! I did know of the marriage, I thought it was probably written in the notes I attached to the charts I sent, I have the transcripts of Upper and Lower Gravenhurst, Shillington, Ampthill, Clophill and several others of the small parishes surrounding Gravenhurst, I would list them but I have to find the fiche box and EVERYTHING is in chaos! Fortunately they finished yesterday so today we went to see the new Harry Potter movie and then had lunch out, to get away from the mess, tomorrow we have to sort out my mother-in-law for the weekend and then this weekend we shall spend cleaning and clearing everything up, hopefully I shall be able to get back to my life next week! 3. Hi Patti Unfortunately Henlow 1624 -30 registers are deficient which is when a vital Benjamin Cooper would have been born (he was buried in 1698 and appears in Hearth Tax records in Henlow) His children mentioned in his will would have been born in the Commonwealth period, and they too fail to make an appearance as births in the parish register. Whilst Benjamin's siblings' descendants can be traced to Clifton and Langford it was via Benjamin that the Henlow Coopers of the 1800s descend. Amazing that the Coopers can be traced for 500 years in the same two villages, Arlesey and Henlow. Not exactly upwardly mobile, although my 10xg grandfather's sister who was on the Mayflower is excluded from this description of them! I have found no connection with the Hexton Coopers, and the Henlow Coopers only appear in Shillington in the 1840s seemingly having no connection with the indigenous Shillington Coopers.
