    1. Arthur - Sent alone to Australia as 4yr old
    2. Peter Booth
    3. Audrey, I doubt that Arthur would travel alone as a 4yr old. More likely has was part of a group of children from an orphanage or was sent out for adoption. I would look for information from places like Dr.Barnardos. Unfortunately, Alice didn't give a web address for NSW Families. This site is for adoptions and the like. But you would need the equivalent site for Victoria, as that is where you said he was sent. I didn't see any young children named Arthur arriving around 1881 on the Victorian Immigrant list. Odf course it is possible that he disembarked at another port and travelled overland to Melbourne. Something concrete for a date and location would help. You may also like to check for Australian War Records. By my reckoning he would be around 38 in 1914, which would normally be a bit old for enlistment. Do you know, for example, if he enlisted in the AIF in Australia or returned to UK and joined a British Division. Was he Army, Navy or Air Force? Infantry, Engineers, Supply, Tank Battalion etc?. All are clues. Peter in Sydney
