    1. Re: [BDF] Louisa Pleasance CARTER b Potton 1808
    2. Gail There is a 'Luisa' CARTER christened to a James & Sarah CARTER on the 11th Oct 1812...could James be John?! Have a look here again and see [also a marrige of John CARTER to Sarah JARVIS in 1792, Potton]: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyBedford.htm#P There is a Will for a James CARTER in National Archives...so it is just a solicitors copy? Will of James Carter of Potton , Bedfordshire, 29 November 1838 PROB 11/1902 Might be worth e - mailing Beds Archives to see if they have any Wills for CARTER of Potton? 'Pleasance' if it is a surname dererivation would be more likely a Cambridgeshire name and go further back Older CARTERs [18th C] would probably pronounce their name something like CARYER or something [dropping the 't' as people did] I think. cathy Ps In Norfolk 1827, a John CARTER m Eliz PLEASANCE [but that is a LDS entry]
