In the parish register it say Wallingford (rectius Wallington, Herts) the Latin word "rectius" means to correct or mend, so Wallingford has been corrected to Wallington. Wallingford is in Oxfordshire, on the Thames, whereas Wallington is in Hertfordshire, and much more likely to be William's birthplace. If they name someone as "of somewhere" it means that the person was resident in that place at the time of the marriage. Residence could be acquired in several ways (that I won't go into here), and was important because it was used to determine which parish was responsible for the maintenance of paupers. Hi all (me again) I've been tracing my ALBON family tree through Bedfordshire, and I've come to a point where it seems they might have moved to Wallington, Herts. Please could someone check to see if there is an entry for a WILLIAM ALBON born abt 1650 / 1660. If you find the entry, please could you also let me know who the parents are and if they were also from Wallington. William married a Rosamond Baldock in 1676 in Henlow, Beds. Please could you also check the birth for Rosamond around the same dates. Thanks Suzanne
