    2. Eve McLaughlin
    3. Saturday is the day - when the Bucks Genealogical Society presents its great annual feast of research material - a lot of new things this year, with many facsimile censuses from all over, masses of directories of towns and counties, and useful indexes like the London Watermen 1400s to 1949, Irish wills abstracts, scads of criminals (such *interesting* ancestors), all the Bedford registers, almost all Bucks, many for Oxford and unexpected ones down south, like Stoke on Trent, Colton, Brodsworth, kenfig, Taxall, Lavenham, Mansfield, etc, etc. We have a Bcuks research room, including not only masses of books and transcripts, but an exhibition of historic photos of Waddesdon, Quainton etc, abd the Wolverton Local History group with their own useful material. We have a lacemaker showing the craft which occupied so many Bucks women in the past; S&N (British Data Archive) computer software, and masses of books, guides etc from our own bookstall and West Surrey, who have, as well as Surrey, the finest collection of London material and research guides available. We have ordered fine weather - and the venue, the Mandeville School, Ellen Rd, Aylesbury, off Churchill Ave, just down the road from Stoke Mandeville Hospital, is very easy to find (signposted all round the town, then follow the arrows. Open 10am to 4pm - with something for absolutely everyone (well, unless you have ancestors from Uttar Pradesh, where the details might be limited. Talks by Eve, Barney Tyrwhitt-Drake and Julian Hunt and expert advice available all day. Ample parking, light refreshments - and a happy buzz, judging by previous years. -- Eve McLaughlin Author of the McLaughlin Guides for family historians Secretary Bucks Genealogical Society
