Dear Listers, I am hoping that there might be a lister who has access to, or who can direct me to the 1841 Stanbridge census. The couple I am seeking--Richard and Anna Holtom/Holtham--seem to bemissing on the 1851 census. (I think that both may have died before then). I really am stuck on this couple as my next query outlines. Any suggestions or advise, as to where I can find this information, would be much appreciated. Chris in Ontario
To Chris Roberts, It looks like you may have a firewall blocking unknown senders. Thanks to Kevin Quick's site Richard + Hannah HOLTOM and children are in Tilsworth Rd, Stanbridge in 1841. Both are aged 45 (rounded). As I suspected Richard is born outside the county, but Hannan is local. The children that we found in Stanbridge christenings are Elizabeth 15, Jane 11, William 8. In addition Phebe 4 and Sarah 1 are born after 1837. The eldest daughter Hannah is listed further down as a servant at a neighbour's house. Also in 1841 Census in Tilsworth Rd is a father and son combination. John 50 is born outside the county, but his son Joseph 30 is local. The age of Richard suggests he would be too young for marriage in 1808. Therefore, I suggest his wife is Ann Lampett whom he married in Oxford in 1818. This is a good fit for birth dates of children.
