It would be best to arm yourself with everything you can find on-line or via contacts over here to begin with and then you can spend more time with vital research. Bedfordshire Archives [in Bedford Town] keep all the archive material & have many records listed on their search site and are adding info all the time, so please look here: http://blars.adlibsoft.com/form.html They also have the parish records of all Bedfordshire villages, so it isnt necessary to order every marriage certificates for instant as the PRs have the same information too. Please see this site about opening times & how to contact them etc: http://www.bedfordshire.gov.uk/Bedfordshire/Staticpages.nsf/Web/Staticpages/local_record s Please write to them if you have any concerns, they are very helpful. CENSUS [1841 onwards] : The Rootschat people are helpful if you need census data [and this would save you time if you had these records already?] etc: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,197.0.html For births/marriages/deaths from 1837 [when civil registration began] your interests are mainly in the Biggleswade area: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ But these can be ordered in Bedford too: http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/bdf.htm happy hunting cathy
There is a National Express coach direct from Heathrow into Bedfordshire. It stops in Luton and at the airport. I'm not sure if the same applies to Gatwick but it might be worth checking. Chris Andrew Ontario, Canada
