In 1841 HO107/003-03 folio 20B Back Lane Shefford (no Odells nearby) David Wells 30 sawyer Not born in county Martha Wells 29 Born in county James Wells 5 Born in county George Wells 11 mths Born in county Shefford came within the parish of Campton at that time, and Campton parish register is only on the IGI up to 1812, which is probably why youve not been able to find them. However you ideally need George and Emmas marriage certificate which would give fathers names and occupations. Regards David Sandee <sandee@ionet.net> a écrit :I thank every one of you that generously provided information on the Hamlet of Ireland and also gave suggestions to many websites to investigate. I do have ancestry.com.uk, and have found quite a bit of info in census records. I have also spent many an hour peering thru IGI records. unfortunately, the IGI only go so far, and most often does not give the linking information to make positive connections. The names i am searching are very common names, and of course, they followed the english naming custom of repeating names over and over again throughout the generations. I have George Wells, son of ?, but per family, his mother was an ODell, and i do have a photo of her at 80 years of age, taken at Blake and Edwards in Bedford. George was b ca 1841 in Shefford, Beds (per 1871 census), blacksmith, living in Sandy, Beds. in 1861 census, he was in Biggleswade, a blacksmith. 1881 census finds him in Barrow in Furness, 1891 census finds him in Hackney, London with 2nd wife, Sarah. George m 1st Emma Hilliard, b JunQ1843, Shefford, Beds, dau of George Hilliard b ca 1820 Southill, Beds and Emma (Wilson) b ca 1822 Southill, Beds. Per 1851 census, he was a Hurdlemaker in Shefford Hardwick. 1881 and 1891 census finds Emma (Wilson) widow, residing in Barrow in Furness, and she d MarQ1901. I have not been able to find if wife Emma died in Sandy, Barrow, or in Hackney, she d bet 1881 and 1891 census. George Wells and Emma (Hilliard) were my gggrandparents, thru their son James...that moved to Ramsgate, Kent. I'm trying to find parents of George, ? and ? Odell. also, any siblings. and just to make it more interesting, it is known that David Odell b ca 1852 Shefford, Beds (son of George Odell and ?) m Hephzibah Stevens b ca 1850 Shefford, Beds. They had 6 known children, the youngest being Joseph William David Odell b 6Jun1908 in the Hamlet of Ireland, that married Margaret May Wells, dau of the above James. They resided Old Warden. It is known that they were 2nd or 3rd cousins, through the Odell line. If anyone has any information, i would be forever indebted!
