    2. I am searching for an Elizabeth Alice Randall born in Pimlico London in 1851. The 1861 census for that area is missing and she and family are not on the 1871 census although her brother marries around 1874 and has children in that area from 1876 . I have found on the 1881 census for 33 West Street, Dunstable, Bedford an Elizabeth Randall as a Lodger unmarried 33 years old and born in London Pimlico. It seems too much of a coincidence to me! I feel she must be the same person? Her occupation was a Hat Finisher.. I have since looked for a marriage, death and 1891 census but have found nothing more! Is there any way of finding out in Bedford area where else she might have worked or maybe electoral rolls, if the latter when would they have been done and where would I look for them? I do hope someone has some bright ideas as I do not want to give up on this one!! Heather Smith

    3. Heather, what other names of her family members do you? Where her family from the Bedford area originally and is this why you are asking on the Bedfordshire list. Do you have any brothers or sisters names. All this help when searching Ancestry.com as often names are mispelt, ages given wrongly, different places of birth given for every census taken for a particular person. Have been having a hunt about but need that extra information if it is available Warm regards Gay ----- Original Message ----- From: <hgsmith@ntlworld.com> To: <BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 6:56 AM Subject: [BDF] Randall >I am searching for an Elizabeth Alice Randall born in Pimlico London in >1851. 3. Hi Heather Questions which must be asked (and hopefully answered ) would help people to search for search for you are: 1. Have you got the birth certificate? That will help to ensure you have the right person, give the names of her parents and an address. 2. Have you checked under Alice? 3. Have you checked under the names of any siblings? 4. Have you checked using the Christian name only, with dob & location? 5. Have you checked whether she married- in 1871 she would have been 20. In 1881 she should have been 30 . Some other info might help you to narrow down her movements eg was she a witness at a sibling's marriage? An informant at the death of a parent? 6. Where was her brother in 1871? If you have the names, DoBs, locations of any other family members it greatly assists others to help you.
