Hello everybody The previous reply is absolutely correct but perhaps I can add a little more if I may. Crawley Green Road in Luton (Beds) leads up to and over the Beds/Herts border to a place called Cockernhoe. This is linked to Mangrove and close to Tea Green. All of these places are in Hertfordshire and, depending on when and where the records were made, people from this area will be shown as coming from either Lilley or Offley in Hertfordshire with their registration district being Hitchin. I am also not sure as to where Crawley Green itself actually is/or was. Would need investigation as to which side of the border it sat. The current Crawley Green School etc is part of a modern development and I think must fall with the Borough of Luton. Harpenden is 5/6 miles away and, by modern road layouts, would seem to be somewhat out the way. However there are lanes etc leading form the general area of Harpenden in the direction of Luton Hoo and where Luton Airport now sits which, I surmise without any real facts to back me up, would make it very reachable by horse & cart etc. Hope this helps Paul
