Hello List, I wondered whether anyone could tell me the parents & circumstances of RICHARD SMALLMAN born about 1820 in Leintwardine, Bedfordshire.He married Ellen & was the carpenter at the Enville Estate in Staffordshire. Hello John, My knowledge of Bedfordshire is very patchy, but the nearest to Leintwardine that it includes is Leighton Buzzard :-) Leintwardine is (almost) as Richard described in the Census, as it was *mostly* in Herefordshire, but part was in Shropshire. And around 90 miles crow-flight from BDF. I can't see a "Dike Street" in Kinver (Staffordshire) - but suspect it *could* be today's "Dark Lane", although High Street's a faint possibility. OTOH, Enville is about 2 miles North of Kinver, and Dark Lane is at the south end of the (little) town. Maybe he'd not yet taken the job on the Estate by 1851...
