Hi, I have spent this afternoon pursuing some LANCSTER families for a friend of mine. With the help og Gill Jones (thanks, Gill!), I have traced the LANCASTER line back to a Robert Lancaster, born c.1792 Eggington. On the 1841 Census,Robert has with him a Martha LANCASTER (transcribed Lankenster), aged 80, who I would imagine would be his mother, although, of course, i can't be sure of that. I have been looking on the IGI for a possible christening for Robert Lancaster, and have found the baptism of a RObert Lankinster at Eaton Bray in 1791, son of John Lankinster and MArtha. A John Lancaster married Martha Lake at Chalgrave on 1.8.1785. This John Lankistor (yet another way of spelling it!) may have been baptised in Chalgrave in 1760. I'm not sure how to progress to prove this speculation, but I was wondering if anyone has access to the Parish Registers for any of these places, to see if there is any reference which maybe of use.
