The next meeting of the Bucks Genealogical Society is on Sat April 8 at the Mandeville School, Ellen Rd, Aylesbury. From north, east or south, aim for Stoke Mandeville Hospital (signs all over the town). At the roundabout for the main hospital entrance (entrance 2) turn right/left into Churchill Avenue. Passing two estate roads, turn left into ELLEN Rd (to Walton Court) and the school is immediately on the left. From the west, approach Aylesbury down A418, turn right at roundabout into Ellen Road (signed for Walton Court) and go all the way down, school on left at the far end. The talk is by the irrepressible Geoffrey Purefoy, Lord of the Manor of Shalstone, about his fascinating family, who kept records, wrote loetters and diaries and generally had a colourful life. Geoffrey will bring along some records not deposited with the archives. IT'S BEEN FUN FINDING OUT - THE PUREFOYS of SHALSTONE Talk at 3pm. Doors open 2pm for an hour's personal research in selected material, with expert advice on general and computer problems. Library, bookstall, tea/coffee at 4.15.
