    3. I'm compiling a brief biography of my late father (as a gift for my 91-year old mother) and would appreciate any information about Luton Modern School, which he attended probably in the mid1920s (he was born in 1911). If anyone has, or can suggest where I might access, photos and/ or a map showing the location of the school at that time, I would be most grateful. I understand it is now the University of Luton at Park Square, but is this the original location? Thanks for any help. Incidentally, my father lived at Southdown Road, Harpenden (I grew up in Harpenden, too) and I'm curious about how he would most likely have travelled to Luton -- by train or bus, any guesses? My genealogy questions more properly belong to the Hertfordshire list -- but if anyone on this list happens to know anything about the BRACEY family of Wheathampstead in the late 1800s (they also had some connections with Luton), any little snippet would be welcome. My big brick wall concerns my father's unknown grandfather. Dad's mother was Alice Maud BRACEY, born 1880, youngest of 5 illegitimate children of Maria BRACEY, born 1846 -- no trace of the father of any of them! I've tried all the usual routes to an answer. Maria was poor, but apparently being supported to some extent, though there are no maintenance orders or anything of that sort to be found. Anne in Nova Scotia, Canada
