That particular entry in the March quarter 1855 was in Biggleswade registration district which covers many parishes, not just Biggleswade. Biggleswade parish register has been extracted onto the IGI up to 1875 and the baptism doesn't appear, so presumably, if he was baptised, it was in another parish which isn't on the IGI. Have you found him on any subsequent census which gives his place of birth? I can't see him in 1861, although there were a couple of Lenard children in Biggleswade with grandparents and some Leonards in Stotfold and Astwick which are within Biggleswade registration district. It might be easier just to buy the birth cert! Hi David, The problem I have is as follows: on the 1881-1901 Samuel says he was born in Bermondsey, There is a Samuel on the 1871 as a border who was born in Camberwell. I have seen an entry of the 1861 (that's what i've written on the top - so it may be wrong) of a Samuel of the right age with his widowed mother Ann both born in Biggleswade so I was hoping to confirm his fathers name which I know is William, I guess I'll have to get a three year check done on certificates. Never mind. Thanks for your help.
