I think the records were made a few years after the Wars because sometimes the widows have remarried. My father asked me to look up about 10 of his comrades who had been killed by the Hitler Youth snipers in Spring 1945 - and I found all but one of them. You can download records for £3.50. I dont know much about the records at Kew but I have found both of my grandfathers WW1 records. The Australian Archives seem easier to navigate than ours do! cathy
