Dear Listers, This is a rather vague request, I know, but I don't know how else to find John's birth. As per the father's will,John Vattas, (written 19th Dec 1793) JOHN SIMPSON, my son begotten by me on LATE SARAH SIMPSON of Bedfordshire deceased, born on 2 Nov 1784, christened and registered in parish register of St James Church. From IGI, John was christened at St James Westminster but this was in 1799, AGED 15 (after will was written) and after father's death (will proved 1795). Perhaps there is a St James in Bedfordshire, I am guessing, probably many. Can anyone shed some light on where I could go or what I need to do to try and find this illegitimate birth.
