Something else to remember is that some, a minority, of war memorials are also rolls of honour, and list those who served and survived as well as those who died. Many rolls of honour, especially during and after the South African and First World Wars, less so after WW2, were issued as books, especially by corporate bodies like regiments, schools, colleges, professions, large firms and companies, parishes, counties, and so forth. Has anyone attempted to collate / collect these, list them and index them? I have not yet come across such a bibliography or index, even in the research library catalogues.
