    3. David, You're quite right. My local Centre at Alloa is temporarily(?)closed at the moment. I should get off my a**e and travel a bit further afield! UNfortunately I haven't got either Astwick or Northill Regards David ANDY DEAR <andy.dear@btinternet.com> a écrit : David, Thanks for your information. Unfortunately I seem to have lost the notes I took when I was examining the parish registers, and I cannot recall whether either William or Joan was given as being widowed. Since I am located in Scotland a return trip to Bedfordshire is unlikely at the moment! Thanks for your suggestions anyway, Andy -----Original Message----- From: David [mailto:david11000carca@yahoo.fr] Sent: 28 February 2006 14:01 To: BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [BDF] Eversholt Parish Registers Hi Andy There was only one Topham family in Arlesey at this time: John and wife, whose first child was baptised on 19 Sept 1672 and whose last child was in March 1681,. a month after the burial of his father John. When this last child was buried later in 1681 he was described as "son of widow Topham". In none of the baptisms of the 5 children was the mother's name given. Arlesey is only across the fields from Astwick (whose main claim to fame is that my parents were married there!) and I wonder if it was the widow of John who married William Dear. Have you checked Astwick parish register to see if either of them was described as widow? I can only see 2 children baptised in Arlesey to William and Jane so I wonder if they might have been older than the usual newlyweds. There was a marriage of John Topham and Jane Cole in Northill on 25 Nov 1671 (this is an IGI member submission so needs checking) and there are no subsequent Topham baptisms in Northill, so it might also be worth checking Northill parish register (there are burials of John in 1698 and Joanna in 1691 so these might be the couple who married there or possibly John's parents?) Best I can come up with I'm afraid! Regards David ANDY DEAR a écrit : David, I have just the one Topham - Joan or Jane birth date and place unknown but married my 8th great grandfather William Dear at Astwick on 29th April 1685. I have a burial for her at Arlesey on 27th March 1717. Any chance you have anything on her??
