Also checking marriages at http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ against the census index at http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ in order to come up with a daughter's married name? It isn't a perfect answer but may give you a few leads? And it is playing the detective a bit... I would also recommend this site as most of us seemed to lose someone in the First World War: http://www.cwgc.org/cwgcinternet/search.aspx There were a lot of DEARs lost in the Great War - but the above site may be something to keep in mind.
