Dear List members. I am a new member looking for information and sources for passengers in the Bedford area who arrived in New England/ Aquidneck Island (later named Rhode Island) by June, 1638. I found information that the surnames WHEELER-HALSEY, LAWTON, (W)ODELL probably from Beds., and WHEEDEN and BALDWIN from Bucks. were part of the passenger list of 180, but the actual list has not come to light. The "Planter" was one of 14 ships at anchor in Thames, waiting for permission to sail in April, 1638. Nearly every other ship in that group preserved its passenger list, and those are online at Olive Tree Genealogy, or at ITSG. Are there any descendants on this list - or can you send this message to them - for the documentation/sources for this information? I dearly hope that our ancestor also made this voyage on the "Planter" 1638: Nicholas BROWNE. There is ample documentation for him on Aquidneck, beginning June, 1638, and his name on several plots of land until his death there in 1694. But there is no clue in his papers to indicate his home county in England. His children were named William, Nicholas, Abraham, and Jane - if this helps identify his family connections. I will be grateful for any information you can suggest. Patricia Brown
