Until you raised the question that is what I believed. I've since gone back to the 2 databases I've created from 2 readings of the Parish Registers, but I haven't yet been able to check my original notes. There's no change with the dates. The first shows James baptised to Joseph & Ann Dudley. The second shows George James baptised to William & Jane Dudley. I also have a note that the child's name was entered first as Joseph & this was crossed out & George then entered. (easily explained if the vicar was thinking of the father's name.) I'll need to reread the register again to confirm who the parents really are. (I can see a neat fit if the parents were William & Jane.) If anyone happens to be reading this register, it's entry number is 1235.
