Hear, Hear! On my rather meagre pension, I subscribe to a couple of well-known genealogy sites. I'm afraid I no longer do look ups for people who don't or wont pay - if I can pay so should they. However I will always help someone who perhaps can't read a census return or who have looked and can't find.
