This Indenture Witnesseth that Thomas Brown of Little End in the Parish of Eaton Socon in the County of Bedford Single man doth put himself Apprentice Samuel Wootten of Little end aforesaid weaver to learn his Art and with him after the manner of an Apprentice to serve from the Tenth Day of October last past for the term of Seven Years from thence next ensuing and fully to be compleat and ended during which term the said Apprentice his Master faithfully shall and will serve his Secrets keep his lawfull commands every where gladly do. He shall do no damage to his said Master nor see it to be done by others but to his Power shall let or forthwith give Notice to his said Master of the same. The Goods his said Master he shall not waste nor the same without License of his to any give or lend Hurt to his said Master he shall do away or procure to be done he shall neither buy nor sell without his Master's License. Taverns, Inns or Ale houses he shall not haunt. All into Dice, Kiltie or any other unlawful Game he shall not play nor from the service of Wisnit(?) Haster Day nor Night plant himself that in all things do an honest and fruitful Apprentice shall and will do main and behave himself towards his said Master and all his during the said term. And the said Samuel Wootten the said Apprentice in the Art of a weaver which he now useth shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the best Way and Manner that he intending and allowing unto his said Apprentice Meat Drink Coalling Washing Lodging and all other Necessaries during the said term. And fir the true performance of all and every of the Covenants and Agreements aforesaid either of the said Parties bindeth himself firmly by these presents. In Witness whereof the Parties abovesaid to these Indentures interchangeably have set their Hands and Seals the Eighteenth Day of February in the Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord the George the 3d by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and in the Year of our Lord 1762 N.B. What Money or other Thing is Given or Contracted for with the Apprentice must be inserted in Words as loneth and the Duties paid within the Time Limits to the Stamp Office or the Indentures will be void the Master forfeit fifty Pounds and another Penalty and the Apprentice to be disabled to follow the Trade or be made Free and so forth. Note The Office is No 8 in Lincoln Inn New Square London and the Open Hours are from Nine to Twelve in the Morning and from Two to Five in the Afternoon Holy days excepted. Samuel Wootten his Mark Whereas Thomas Brown is by Indenture of this date bound an Apprentice to me for the Term of Seven years from the tenth day of October last year Notwithstanding which I do hereby agree to discharge the said Samuel Wootten & his shall be full Liberty to depart from my service at the end of five years of his Apprenticeship or in default of my performance of this agreement.
